Final Reflection
As a part of the International Scholars Program, I have gained many skills, learned numerous lessons, and explored the world in ways I would not have otherwise. Through class opportunities, campus life events, study abroad experience, and community interaction, I have broadened my perspective and understanding of the world.

Through the courses I took on topics such as Intercultural Communication, International Relations, and International Business, I gained valuable insights into how people of different cultures communicate, conduct business, and manage controversies. This catered to a growing interest in global issues and the various international players involved. Since I studied abroad in Ireland, I have a very particular interest in the issues within the country and with my background in these courses, I analyze articles pertaining to developing industry, as well as the ever evolving Brexit controversy on the border in a different way than I would had I not received academic instruction in these fields.

The International Scholars Program also offered me opportunities to engage with others during talks presented on campus ranging from the Venezuelan Crisis to the impact of ISIS on Middle Eastern affairs. These talks opened my eyes to oftentimes less publicized issues in mainstream American media. I feel as though these conversations were important to my development as a student, and business person, because they presented me with a different scope of information than I might otherwise receive. Since my predominant area of interest is in Irish Affairs, it broadened the region I have a growing understanding of in terms of regional conflicts or issues.

Lastly, through the International Scholars Program, I have been fortunate to meet students from a wide variety of backgrounds in workshops as well as at campus life events. This not only lends to broadening my professional network, but also gives me a greater appreciation for the students around me on campus. Oftentimes, you are connected by course work or academic institutions; however, through this program you are connected to others who are genuinely interested in global affairs and learning about other cultures. This personal interest leans to more authentic relationships built on who you are as a person as opposed to a mutual ability to gain professionally by knowing each other.

This experience has made me a more well rounded and insightful person. Through my participation, I have learned so much about the world and feel more prepared to have in depth conversations with people regarding international issues and topics. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow through this program and feel this has made an impact on my time at the University of Florida.
